Bald spots!!!!!! i.e. experimenting with (hair-removal) wax strips for the first time ever, with the result that my left leg looks rather like I'm a dog with mange. *lol*

Getting kinda worried about the season 8 finale of Smallville...Jimmy, please don't die! *frets*

Progressing verrrrrrry slowwwwwwwwwwly with keeping abreast of superhero comic books, as my acquisitions over the last six months have been: Green Arrow Year One (AKA yay Survivor!Ollie don't vote him off the island), All-Star Superman volume #1 (AKA pure unadulterated crack), and Batman R.I.P. (AKA Batman?!!!! Dies?!!!! WTF?!!!!). Seeing Tim Drake for the first time in over a decade was unexpectedly hilarious because I kept wanting to pinch his cheeks and exclaim "My, how tall you've become!". Aw, little Timothy, I'm proud of you being all grown up now. *wipes away maternal tear*

'The Adventures of Merlin' on TV is proving very entertaining so far. Complete with main character I actually love and adore: more than any of the other characters (yes, that thunderous cracking sound overhead? That's the first sign of the Apocalypse). I see the fandom loves slashing Arthur/Merlin but I don't see it so much...now, Arthur/Lancelot OTOH is totally slashy. ;)

So I finally got around to watching 'The Next Doctor' a couple of weeks ago. To date the only Xmas special I've liked was 'The Runaway Bride', but this latest one was actually a lot of fun (David Morrissey and Dervla Kerwin were AMAZING <3).

Anyhow, I'm reminded that I still have a couple of reaction posts waiting from last year:The Stolen Earth )

...both my nephews like Doctor Who. That's nice, because really all the official paperwork of disowning them and leaving them out of my Will would have been a nuisance. ;D

Older nephew (who says the Doctor is is favourite character because he's sneaky. Haha! I seem to recall that's what I liked about the Doctor when I was little, too) has also introduced me to the glory & majesty of the DW Pattern Book. What an amazing tome! I want the TARDIS cushion. Younger nephew wants the woolen Yeti. LOL

Unrelated, but: [info]reynardine I finally got around to reading 'The Blue Sword' and 'The Hero and the Crown' by Robin McKinley. Thoroughly enjoyable. I liked Hero and the Crown best, although rather put out by the Tor/Aerin ending (I shipped Luthe/Aerin!!!!!!). Luthe was so awesome in both books -- the slight disconnection in Time and being an ageless wizard with a very dry sense of humour. *g*

Oh man, I miss Gargoyles so much.

Sorry I've been offline for ages! Hope everyone's doing okay. We were on holiday down south for a couple of weeks and baby-sitting my nephews as well - it's been ROASTING hot over summer (now officially Autumn but still hot & humid).

[info]silent_bunny and [info]rkold, thank you both so much for the postcards!!!!!! They totally made my day. :D Rachel, I'm absolutely convinced that Gino is a Keiichi clone, LOL.

Now for the grand catch-up. Skip=500 here I come. ^_^;;;

There are several things of Win and Awesome that I've been given recently that will be shown off in the near future ([info]silent_bunny the package arrived! *HUGE GLOMPS*). Meanwhile I wanna do a quick mini-reaction post about the latest Smallville episode (that is, reaction other than ZOMG CLOIS).

Ollie. Oliver Queen. Green Arrow. FTW. He's definitely earned his place in this show. And how awesome was it that when he asked Lois what was wrong and she told him he doesn't want to hear her whining - he sits down beside her and gets her to talk to him!

Go, Ollie! It's true that he's one of the more "human" superheroes (with all the bad and good that entails). He's a great leader of the Justice League, too. Way better than the BBC Robin Hood in the leadership stakes. Plus, better outfit when in costume as Robin - definitely working that jaunty cap and matching domino mask. *lol*

Wilf made me want to cry. He’s always so brave, in his own way.
As far as ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ stories go, this one was particularly disturbing. "Labour Camps" ah yes. Brrrr! *chills*

Starting with an aside: PSST, check out my prettiful Ollie/Green Arrow layout. Just mentioning it because it won't be around much longer due to certain developments in the latest Smallville episodes. I'll most likely be switching to Lois & Clark layouts for the next few, oh, decades. Or for the rest of eternity. *g*

Having childhood ships revived is very strange (but very nice). And Clark Kent/Lois Lane is one of the rare ones that I've shipped ever since I was very little. I can't think of many other ships that I can claim I supported for so long and over so many different media. Lois & Clark can chalk up films, comic books, TV, etc etc etc. And they've been together since the 1930's.

Well, there's Robin Hood & Lady Marian of course. They've been OTP since centuries ago and also cover ballads, books, TV, movies, wood engravings - you name it.

And then Beauty & the Beast would have to be counted. Folk tales from all over the world, books, Disney movies... :-)...

So I was wondering: do y'all have childhood ships that you still support? If so, who are they? In not, why did you stop supporting them?

I am so behind in LJ!!!!! This needs to be, like, a month ago. In lieu of mugging Captain Jack for his wrist-strap device, please do link me anything important I might have missed - or anything you wanted comments on.

Oh, and I have finished DW season 4 (no more DW for the rest of the year - MY LIFE IS OVER *oh the melodrama*). I think I'm shipping Jack/Sarah (EEEK) because for some insane reason they totally work (& Donna pulling Sarah off of Jack to get a hug from him for herself was the most hilarious thing ever). The Powers that Be need to get Sarah back for one of the specials next year. Just because it's not proper DW without Sarah Jane. *is biased*

...and did you see that adorable Doctor/Sarah hug at the end there! And she didn't say goodbye this time!! *SQUEE*

(P.S. See, I posted. ;D)

So I've only this week seen Catgate CG1 (thanks [info]assetic for pointing it out...Teal'cat is insanely cute =^.^=), and am now filled with a burning desire to make a spin-off Doggate Sirius with dogs portraying Sheppard, Weir, McKay, & company.

...this may be my life's calling. *lol*

*burning fists of determination*
